Madison Square Garden will play host to an epic battle between New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies. New York comes into this matchup riding a three-game winning streak and boasting 15-8 home record while defeating Memphis six out of nine times previously met up with each other. Meanwhile Memphis recently enjoyed their best stretch ever this season by beating Kings, Timberwolves, and Hawks during an incredible three game winning streak of their own.
Their +291 scoring differential this season stands as one of the league's highest. They've averaged 123.7 points per game while giving up 115.0 per contest, ranking fifth overall in both categories in both cases and connecting on 14.3 made 3-pointers per contest - sixth-best among NBA teams.
Memphis' defensive effort has limited opponents to shooting 37.4% from the field and led the NBA with blocks 4.4 per game and steals 10.2 per contest, as well as ranking third for points off turnovers at 1.35 per outing.
In January, the Knicks have shown considerable improvement, recording consecutive victories over both the Timberwolves and Hawks and shooting significantly better as eleven players scored double-figure scores over their last seven games. Rookie center Zach Edey has shown great promise by posting two consecutive double-digit performances; his development could prove pivotal against an opposing frontcourt featuring Karl-Anthony Towns.
