On March 8, the Brooklyn Nets (21-41) take on Charlotte Hornets (14-48). In what will likely be their final meeting this season, the Nets hope to take advantage of an exhausted Charlotte team and end their six-game losing streak while improving their playoff hopes.
After an initially slow start to their season, the Nets have shown gradual signs of improvement throughout this year. Unfortunately, however, six consecutive losses and being 3.5 games back from qualifying for play-in have hindered them considerably.
Cam Thomas looks like his old self since making his return from hamstring injury during the loss to Golden State and should serve as an important leader for this team. Keon Johnson and Nic Claxton may also provide significant contributions.
Charlotte Hornets are currently grappling with injuries and rotation issues. Although they gave the Cavaliers a run for their money in their last game 118-117, Charlotte will need to quickly rebound if they want to avoid finishing outside of the top five and entering a draft lottery pool.
The Nets have had their way with Charlotte this season, and should easily beat their 5.5-point road favorite in Charlotte. They should dominate turnovers and assists while dominating inside against a weak Charlotte defense. Charlotte could struggle on its second night of back-to-back action; their lack of depth may play an integral role in this matchup.
