Tom Herman, Florida Atlantic head coach since 2017, appears poised for his most impressive year yet. Herman excelled as coach at both Texas and Houston and his recruiting class boasts plenty of talent - the key question being how much Florida Atlantic can improve from last season when they went 4-8 and lost to some very impressive opponents.
At first glance, the roster appears strong with plenty of depth and experienced players at all positions. Linebacker Jackson Ambush and Desmond Tisdol should lead a strong unit next season; Sean Atkins ranks among the premier receivers in the AAC. Running back positions also seem strong with Nay'Quan Wright and Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen both contributing significantly as quality contributors.
The offense could use some improvements, but overall this talented squad should have no problem beating even the weakest opponent in their conference - making this game an excellent one to back as an underdog against the spread.
