Notre Dame dropped their last outing against Virginia Tech, leaving them on the verge of an 18-team league standings finish that would prevent postseason tournament participation. That makes their rematch with Boston College on Wednesday all the more imperative for head coach Mike Brey's squad.
Although Notre Dame has had difficulty finding their rhythm this season, they remain an effective offensive team. Averaging 72.7 points per game -- placing them 177th nationally -- they boast a solid 3-point shooting percentage ranking them within the top 40 nationwide and regularly make trips to free throw line while taking good care with the ball.
Brey has done well to find productive players to complement star guard Markus Burton, who is averaging 20.6 points per game this season. Forward Tae Davis and wing Braeden Shrewsberry each contribute double-digit scoring, with Matt Allocco and Kebba Njie leading in terms of rebound per game averages.
The Eagles suffered an upset defeat to Syracuse 95-86 in triple overtime last time out and are vying for survival in the ACC; currently tied with NC State for 16th place. Any letdown against Notre Dame would only compound its hardships further.
This year, the Eagles have proven themselves as reliable underdogs, covering four of their 12 ACC games while 11 out of 15 games went over total.
