South Carolina will look to build off of their NCAA Tournament run last season and this will begin by hosting North Florida, who were plagued by scoring issues last season. South Carolina boasts much stronger defensive capabilities compared to their Osprey counterparts so should keep them at bay at home.
Last season, the Ospreys finished 222nd out of 226 college basketball teams in terms of team scoring with 78.0 points per game and their defense ranked even better at just 66.6 PPG allowed! Dorian James and Ametri Moss provided one of the league's premier 3-point shooting teams by making an average of 7.33 3-pointers per game last season.
North Florida may have lost star forward Chaz Lanier to the transfer portal, but their Ospreys possess enough experienced players who should be able to fill his role effectively. While most fans may expect their team to be significantly younger and inexperienced than anticipated, coach Matthew Driscoll can mold them over time into something special.
South Carolina, on the other hand, has added three talented transfers that should make an immediate contribution. Nick Pringle and Jamarii Thomas come directly from SEC league play while Missouri starter Jordan Butler should help shape South Carolina's success this season.
