Virginia Tech and North Carolina A&T Basketball Preview - 12-12-2024
On Thursday evening at Cassell Coliseum in college hoops action, Virginia Tech Hokies take on NC A&T Aggies. Virginia Tech started out their season strong by winning three straight but has struggled since with six of seven losses including conference opponent Pitt where they were limited to just 59 points total in an action-packed contest.
Though Virginia Tech has struggled to score recently, they possess an outstanding defense that forces opponents into forced shots and reduces offensive efficiency. That ability should keep them competitive against NC A&T who has struggled shooting the ball effectively so far this season.
NC A&T enters this matchup having lost four out of their last five games, most recently against UNC Greensboro on Monday night. Their offense allows them to remain competitive but defensive struggles make winning difficult for them.
The Aggies are led by sophomore guard Ryan Forrest who is scoring 19.9 PPG this season. A native of Arkansas, Forrest may not be known for his three-point shooting skills but can create his own shot off of the dribble. With such a solid supporting cast as junior forward Landon Glasper (16.3 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 2.0 SPG) and sophomore guard Jahnathan Lamothe (10 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 1.5 SPG), Forrest can count on an efficient rebound game whereas only making 6 trips to the free throw line where they only shoot 73% of shots attempted (per game).
