Michigan was on track to finish as a top half team until Minnesota showed everyone they couldn't rebound and then Northwestern dismantled them. As a result, now Michigan needs a big win on senior day against Michigan State for revenge and redemption against Northwestern who humiliated them earlier. Expect this game to remain close until Michigan State switches gears and raises their play to an elevated level which the Wolverines simply cannot match; then look out as Michigan State pulls ahead late and covers that 6.5 point spread!
In February, Michigan State's first meeting against their archrival Ohio University resulted in a 75-62 win for Jase Richardson-led MSU to an easy win by outscoring them 75-62. Since then however, his shooting has cooled and may struggle against Ohio University's more effective perimeter defense.
MSU struggles on defense as evidenced by its ranking at just 60th nationally for opponents' scoring. They excel at getting to the basket however and should be able to keep Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin, the two Wolverine scorers leading their team, out of scoring positions.
Sunday's match-up won't have major ramifications on conference tournament seeding, but both teams will be eager to rebound after suffering an embarrassing loss. Expect the Spartans to do their job at home.
